Roll & Play

Grade Level: Pre-K

My Mood Memo

 My Mood Memo is a set of 24 colorful discs with facial expressions for common emotions.  Students play a simple memory game and build emotional vocabulary by finding a matching pair of faces, naming the emotion, and describing a time when they felt that emotion.  This is a great way to help kids put words around their feelings and act on them appropriately.

Literacy Pack: Tell Tale & Reading Comprehension Cubes

Tell Tale is a collaborative storytelling game.  The colorful deck of double-sided cards features characters, settings, objects, and emotions. Students can create their own storyboard or improvise a tale together!  Comes with instructions for four different ways to play.  Great introduction to narrative structure and plot devices! Reading Comprehension Cubes are a set of six large foam dice featuring comprehension questions.  They can be used during story time or as an independent reading activity. (Note: these two activities are unrelated; we just thought you might enjoy both of them!)

Rami is a color learning craft, kids action game, and manipulative activity toy - all in one package!  It uses the principles of binary numbers to dispense the colored balls to the right tracks.   Each arrival box corresponds to a particular position of the 4 levers and to a different combination of the numbers 0 and 1: for example, the sequence 1001 corresponds to box number 9. Included is a screen to cover the tracks and measure the players’ ability.  Playing Rami,  kids maneuver the levers and push buttons that need to be maneuvered with correct hand/eye coordination to free the tracks for the colored balls to arrive at the correct box. 







Laser Maze

Grade Level: 4+

 Lights and mirrors may make it feel like magic, but it’s really science and a good dose of brain power that’s needed to direct the laser beam through this series of mind challenging mazes. The goal is to arrange the tokens at various coordinate on the board to reflect and split the laser beam to hit the targets.  With 60 challenge cards, get ready for a satisfying mental workout as students flex their strategic thinking muscles and ignite the light both on the grid and in their minds! 







Tenzi and Pocket Farkel

Grade Level: 6+

Each player rolls the dice (at the same time) and looks for the number they have the most of - they "claim" that number and pick up any dice that are not on that number.  They continue to roll (as fast as they can) any dice not on that number until finally they are all on the "claimed" number.  Once this happens, they yell, "TENZI!" The first person to yell it wins. Slow it down and explore the frequency of the dice rolls to explore probability and statistics.  With many variations in game play, these forty dice are full of possibilities for educational fun.  Create your own rules or use them to make multiplication and addition more fun! 








Timeline-Historical Events

Grade Level: 6+

JFK’s assassination, the 1st step on the moon, the last crusade ... Can you put all these events correctly on the timeline? To begin, one card is randomly drawn from the pile. This is placed in the middle of the table, date-side up and is the starting point of a chronological line which will slowly be built by players. The first player then chooses one of their cards and place it before or after the initial card. The player's card is then turned date-side up. If the player was right, it remains on the table. Otherwise, the card is discarded and a new one must be drawn to replace it. Play proceeds clockwise. The more cards which are correctly played, the harder it is to correctly place new ones!  The first player to get rid of their cards wins! 

Q-Ba-Maze Mega Stunt Set

Grade Level: 6+

Put the laws of motion to the test!  Q-Ba-Maze is a unique system of colorful cubes that interlock to form a marble run.  Students can build from the included pattern (recommended!) or construct their own marble run!  Double-exit pieces keep you guessing which way the marble will go.  A live demonstration of physics and probability rolled into one!  Please note that this is an advanced activity and will take at least an hour.
